MACKINAC ISLAND: THE GRAND HOTEL
Sunday—Wednesday, September 19-22
After our incredibly successful inaugural visit
in 2008 the ONLY complaint we received
was ‘We didn’t stay long enough—add a
day!” So in celebration of summers end our
deluxe motorcoach travels north to one of the
country’s finest historic inns and our home
for the next THREE evenings. According to
Native American tradition Mackinac Island
is a sacred place, home to the Great Spirit
Gitchie Manitou. Arriving in Mackinaw City
we board the ferry delivering us to the famous
island of no autos—home to the clip clop of
horses’ hooves. Our horse drawn taxis carry
us to perhaps one of the most picturesque
verandahs in the world—the 660 foot, geranium
bedecked Front Porch of the GRAND
HOTEL. With the warmth of summer still
gentling the air we’ll include a narrated
horse drawn wagon ISLAND TOUR with
plenty of time for your own exploration of
the Island, including the famous fort, lovely
homes, shops and gardens. Included in your
stay at the Grand will be three full breakfasts
and gourmet dinners at the Grand Hotel. We
have also added a special MKL tour exclusive:
a private chartered BOAT TRIP around
the island to FOUR HISTORIC ISLAND
LIGHTHOUSES—including admission into
one—and a narrated guide on board to enlighten
us from waters edge of the marvel that
is the Mackinaw Bridge! A first class experience
and well worth a visit—either first time
or return. Built in 1887 this historic landmark
has played host to five U.S. Presidents and
now awaits your arrival. Please join us—or
join us again!
