CHRISTMAS AT BILTMORE ESTATE
Wednesday-Friday, December 10-12

Christmas at Biltmore Estate is guaranteed to delight and astound. Over a century ago the Vanderbilt’s chose the Christmas holidays to first open their home to their friends and we hope to share that same experience with you. The home is festooned with elaborate floral and natural arrangements, beautiful glass blown ornaments while the aromas of the season emanate from the lower floor’s kitchens. First we explore the home in a specially arranged Behind the Scenes Tour, followed by a fabulous holiday luncheon buffet at the estate’s Deer Park Restaurant. Then off to the American’s most visited winery, the estate’s Biltmore Winery for just a taste of the grape and tour. We’ll also explore one of the newest areas on the estate, the 1890’s country life and mercantile store found at River Bend Farm. Back to our hotel for a brief R&R when we don our glittery Christmas sweaters and finery before returning to the elegance that is Candlelight at the Biltmore. The estate is transformed by the glow of fireplaces and candles—our approach lighted with the flutter of luminaries. Musicians playing chamber music in the library and choirs singing in the Conservatory— these are the memories Biltmore leaves with her holiday guests. The next day we explore a vastly different historic home and excellent representation of a Victorian Christmas, the Smith McDowell House. Enroute to Asheville we enjoy lunch at the historic Boon Tavern in Berea, KY and while in Asheville a pre-Candlelight dinner at the incomparable Grove Park Inn—home to the Food Network’s national gingerbread competition. A beautiful way to enjoy the holiday season!
