MACKINAC ISLAND: GRAND HOTEL END OF SUMMER CELEBRATION
Wednesday—Friday, September 3-5

In celebration of summers end our deluxe motorcoach travels north to one of the country’s finest historic inns and our home for the next two evenings. According to Native American tradition Mackinac Island is a sacred place, home to the Great Spirit Gitchie Manitou. By virtue of its location in the center of the Great Lakes waterway this little island became a tribal gathering place where offerings were made to the spirits and where chieftains were laid to rest. Arriving in Mackinaw City we board the ferry delivering us to the famous island of no autos—home to the clip clop of horses hooves. Our horse drawn taxis carry us to perhaps one of the most picturesque verandahs in the world—the 660 foot, geranium bedecked Front Porch of the GRAND HOTEL. With the warmth of summer still around there will be plenty of time the following day for your exploration of the Island, including the famous fort, lovely homes, shops and gardens. Included in your stay at the Grand will be two full breakfasts and gourmet dinners at the Grand Hotel. A first class experience and well worth a visit—either first time or return. Built in 1887 this historic landmark has played host to five U.S. Presidents and now awaits your arrival. Please join us!
