TREASURES OF NEW MEXICO: ALBUQUERQUE, SANTA FE, LOS ALAMOS & TAOS
Saturday-Wednesday, October 25-29

Boarding our Delta flight to Albuquerque we begin our exploration of this fascinating and diverse area. Arriving in Albuquerque our first stop is the delightful Brazilian grilled fare of Tucano’s, followed by time to shop the historic plaza of Old Town Plaza with its array of Native America jewelry, crafts and mementos. After overnighting in Albuquerque we move to explore the history, artist’s galleries, exceptional shops and restaurants of the state’s most exclusive deluxe destination, Santa Fe. Our walking tour with local guide and historian includes the miraculous spiral staircase of the Loretto Chapel, the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, the state capitol building (exterior only) along with plenty of time to explore the world class shopping and galleries of Santa Fe’s Plaza area. Our accommodations for the next three nights will be the elegant, award winning boutique property the Inn on the Alameda. Don’t forget your swimming suits to take advantage of their two ‘hidden’ outdoor hot tub Jacuzzis. Our third morning our deluxe motorcoach climbs the finger of the mesa to ‘The Town That Never Was’ and home to the Manhattan Project, Los Alamos. We tour the intimate Los Alamos Historical Museum housed in the very buildings lived in by world renowned scientists Fermi and Oppenheimer. We then take in the award winning Bradbury Science Museum to learn how the atomic bomb came to be and how the stewardship of that awesome energy source is managed today. Our knowledge of New Mexico takes another turn the following day as we share a US Park ranger guided tour of the Native American cliff dwellings of Bandelier National Park in the Frijoles Canyon. Our final destination is the scenic town of Taos, New Mexico including a Native American guided tour of the Taos Pueblo. It’s multi-storied adobe village is known to have inspired Pueblo Style architecture and the historic artist colony in nearby Taos, from which southwestern art originated. Enroute we’ll visit one of the most sacred sites in the U.S. the haunting Santuario deChimayo, ‘the Lourdes of America’. Back to Santa Fe for a festive farewell dinner at the Bull Ring before our return the next morning to Albuquerque and our return flight to Cincinnati. This is an exceptional tour itinerary offered by no one else in the area—please join us.
