SANTA CLAUS, INDIANA; IMMACULATE CONCEPTION MONASTERY and BEST FURNITURE COMPANY
Monday-Tuesday, December 8-9

Our holiday adventure starts with a scrumptious luncheon overlooking the Ohio River at the scenic Overlook Restaurant before donning our elf hats to join St. Nick’s holiday team with their enormous task of answering Christmas letters from the country’s children. Santa Claus, Indiana is the official mailing address for the Man in Red and he needs our help. Since thousands of letters arrive annually St. Nick has put out an SOS to kind hearted souls to help with the mail. And we’re there to answer the call. After handling a bit of the mail chores we head to the local post office to hand stamp these VIP letters, before sharing a tour of the Santa Claus Museum. After check in at the Santa Lodge and a yummy dinner at St. Nick’s Restaurant our reward for a job well done is a guided tour and tasting at Santa’s Candy Castle. After overnighting at Santa’s Lodge we’ll head off to nearby Ferdinand and a tour of the family owned and operated Best Home Furnishings. Now one of the largest furniture manufacturers in the world we learn from start to finish what’s involved in creating lovely, plush upholstered chairs. We then share a visit with the women of the Benedictine monastery at Immaculate Conception Monastery known at the Castle on the Hill and founded in 1867. Throughout the church 89 angels are present, 16 of which are depicted on the stained glass windows surrounding the majestic Romanesque dome. After sharing lunch at the Monastery we head back to Cincinnati hopefully enlightened with a bit of learning and the pleasure of doing something kind for others A new MKL tradition of service and sanctity we’d like to share—please make it part of your holiday plans!
